He’s our last Melges 24 regatta winner of 2022, and our first of 2023… congratulations are in full order for Drew Freides racing Pacific Yankee, with Bacardi Winter Series Event No. 1 champion crew members Nic Asher, Charlie Smythe, Alec Anderson and Mark Ivey. Freides came into the Melges 24 Class just a little over a year ago and has clocked several top-ten finishes, but this event marks his first big regatta win.

Bacardi Winter Series Opens the 2022/2023 Sailing Season Hosted by Bacardi in Miami, USA

The 2022/2023 Bacardi Regatta Series opens this weekend, December 17th-18th, with the Bacardi Winter Series Event 1 featuring racing for the Melges 24. Hosted at Shake-A-Leg-Miami, three races are scheduled per day, for a total of six races. Post-race Bacardi will host its renowned cocktail parties to ensure the spirit of fun and friendship continues long after the racing.

Porter Claims 9th Melges 24 Nationals Title, Suddath Wins Corinthian Division

After 10 races completed over three days in beautiful Pensacola, Florida, the U.S. Melges 24 Class has crowned Brian Porter, owner and helm of Full Throttle along with 'his boys' — RJ Porter, Bri Porter and Matt Woodworth as 2022 National Champions. Steve Suddath, equal the Class stalwart won the Corinthian division for a second time. Suddath helmed 3 1/2 Men with tactician Dave Chapin and crew members Steve and Shawn Burke.

Stellar Conditions Open the 2022 U.S. Melges 24 Nationals in Pensacola

Christmas came early for 34 Melges 24 teams on opening day of the 2022 National Championship hosted by the Pensacola Yacht Club. Absolutely stunning conditions greeted teams as they arrived on the course and it stayed that way throughout the four races completed. The day started with a building 13-15 knots of breeze, and by the second race, it was hitting a steady 20+ knots with pockets of wave action.
