The time has almost come for the International Melges 24 Fleet to get back out on the water. With a little more than one week to go until the start of the 2022 Melges 24 World Championship, the International Melges 24 Class Association (IM24CA) and U.S. Melges 24 Class Association (USM24CA) are excited to see the World Championship finally happening again, since the 2019 Worlds in Italy was canceled as a result of the pandemic.

Weisleder Aces Day 1 in Charleston with Corinthian McMillan in Chase

With four straight wins on opening day in Charleston, Travis Weisleder’s Lucky Dog pulled into the early lead position at Race Week. Chasing Weisleder in second is his fellow 2019 North American Corinthian Champion Fraser McMillan on Sunnyvale from Canada. Harry Melges IV on Zenda Express rounds out the podium in third.

Getting into groove straight away for the 9-race series was 2021 and 2020 BCIR champion Bora Gulari (USA) with his team on ‘Powered by Moms’. He followed up with a 4th in race 2, but then Gulari and two other boats were over the line for the start of race 3, so will need the discard to kick in after race 6 to get back in the frame.
