August 28, 2021 - Fort Lauderdale, FL, USA - After two years hiatus in the schedule of the Melges 24 World Championships, the International Melges 24 Class Association (IM24CA) is hopeful to welcome Melges 24 fleet for the Melges 24 World Championship 2022 to be hosted by the Lauderdale Yacht Club, Fort Lauderdale, USA in co-operation with U.S. Melges 24 Class Association on May 9-15.

IM24CA is happy to address the message of Laura Grondin, the Chair of the International Melges 24 Class Association:

Dear Melges 24 Sailors,

I am delighted to announce that the 2022 Melges 24 Worlds will be hosted by the Lauderdale Yacht Club (LYC) in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, May 9 to 15, 2022.  The days of racing will be Wednesday, May 11 through Sunday, May 15th.  The racing venue will be open ocean, a short distance from the docking locations.

On behalf of the class, I am very appreciative of the effort already made by the LYC to rapidly make preparations to host a world class event.  The newly renovated facilities and state-of-the-art clubhouse are beautiful and have gorgeous intracoastal waterway views.  There is a shipping port in Fort Lauderdale and the city is easily accessible for both domestic and international travellers.

This coming winter and spring, there will be several class events in south Florida as well as the ever-popular Charleston Race Week, Charleston, SC, in late April/early May, that will provide many opportunities to warm up your team's skills while keeping your boat within a driving radius of the upcoming World Championship.

Please support these events if you can as these organizations have continued to step up and offer our class great racing.

I wish you all well and look forward to seeing you in Fort Lauderdale, if not sooner.

Best,

Laura Grondin
IM24CA Chair

But first, the excitement grows since the International Melges 24 Class fleet is approaching to the Melges 24 European Championship 2021 taking place in Portoroz, Slovenia from September 4th to 11th, which will be the first Melges 24 title event since the World Championship in Villasimius, Italy in October 2019.

For more events in warm Florida during the winter season, check the calendar at the website.
