Congratulations to Sam Nedeau and his Green team for becoming the 2024 Quantum Sails Melges 24 Great Lakes Cup Champions! Consistently placing in the top four at Muskegon, Sarnia, and Traverse City, Sam has clinched his first-ever regional overall championship title and trophy in the U.S. Melges 24 Class.
Harry Vigrass on Tomfoolery claimed second overall and earned the top Corinthian prize, edging out Canada’s Dan Berezin aboard Surprise by just one point for third place. Berezin also placed second overall in the Corinthian division.
Kyle Vowels on I’m with Stupid finished fourth, while USMCA Class President Scot Zimmerman rounded out the top five aboard Bad Idea.
Originally planned as a four-part series, the 2024 Quantum Melges 24 Great Lakes Cup concluded after three events due to the cancellation of the final regatta at Lake Geneva, Wisconsin, due to low water levels. Despite the shortened series, the Midwest racing season remained as intense and competitive as ever, with the results from Muskegon, Sarnia, and Traverse City determining the final standings.
As the U.S. Melges 24 Class looks ahead to another amazing series next year, the USM24CA is grateful for the support of Quantum Sails and anticipates another thrilling season of competitive racing in 2025.
