Of the eleven competing teams, four teams qualify as Corinthians — Scot Zimmerman’s Bad Idea, Greg Chamberlain’s Huzzah, Dan Berezin’s Surprise and Harry Vigrass at the helm of Tomfoolery.

The 2023 BOD format will follow with eight, one-design and two ratings-based sailboat racing classes on Lake St. Clair on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. Classes with strong contingents that are entered are: Melges 24, CAL 25, J/35, J/111, J/120, and Tartan 10.

"We are excited to kick off the 2023 Michigan sailing season with this international regatta that will showcase some tremendous sailors," said Readon. "Many participants view the Bayview One Design Regatta as a great lead up to regional, national, and even international championships for their class."

As part of a partnership with the Special Olympics of Michigan (SOMI), on Friday, June 2 from 4:00 PM-6:00 PM, SOMI athletes will participate in a meet and greet with sailors and BYC members, then participate in a friendly competition of Bocce Ball on the Bayview grounds.

"We are excited to kick off our partnership with the Special Olympics at the Bayview One Design Regatta. It is the start of our racing season and will give our sailors and the Special Olympic athletes a chance to bond over their love of competition," said Paul Husley 2023 Bayview Yacht Club. "It is our goal at Bayview to attract new people to the sport we love and spread the joy of sailing as far and wide as possible, and this partnership will help expose a new audience to the excitement of sailing."
