LYC Welcomes North Sails Partnership

The Lauderdale yacht Club announced a partnership agreement with North Sails for the 2022 Melges 24 World Championships.

North Sails will provide training and coaching for teams competing in the worlds without a dedicated coach, helping amateur sailors square off against some of the best in the world.

"We're excited to use what we know to help more sailors," said John Bowden, North Sails Melges 24 Class Expert "North Sails is all about helping teams improve, whether that's with the fastest sails, or by sharing what we know about the boat with more competitors."

North Sails will host a webinar on April 5 to discuss preparing for a championship event, supply two days of training on and off the water prior to the Worlds, and then a day of coaching with a debrief after the first day of racing during the World Championships in Fort Lauderdale.  Competitors can register for the webinar here and contact John Bowden for more information.

Event Chair Tom Lihan praised the partnership.  “This regatta lets the competitive U.S. sailor compete against the best in the world in beautiful conditions.  North Sails is helping level the playing field for more sailors, and we look forward to the competition.” For more on North Sails’ role in the worlds, visit here.
