Competitor Announcement No. 1- 2019 Sperry Charleston Race Week, General Entry Items

The U.S. Melges 24 Class is excited to be welcoming you back to Charleston next week! The event will mark the second stop on the 2019 U.S. Melges 24 Class National Ranking Series. Please see the below general entry items regarding the fleet at 2019 Sperry Charleston Race Week:

CLASS MEMBERSHIP
We still have a few teams that need to take care of 2019 Class Membership. Please take care of this as soon as possible. If you need to join onsite in Charleston, please be aware that only cash and/or checks made payable to U.S. Melges 24 Class will be accepted. Remember to check in with Class Admin, Joy Dunigan at the registration desk to receive your 2019 Membership package.

Per the International Melges 24 Class Association Rules, PART I - ADMINISTRATION, Section B - BOAT ELIGIBILITY, B.2.1: “The OWNER AND HELMSMAN/WOMAN shall be a current member of their NCA or, where there is no NCA in his country, a member of the ICA or and NCA nominated by the ICA.”

Therefore, 2019 Class Membership is required for every team that races at Sperry Race Week. If you have not yet joined the U.S. Melges 24 Class Association, please visit this link and join today: https://usmelges24.com/join

CORINTHIAN COMPETITION
The official entry deadline for your team to enter as a Melges 24 Corinthian Team is by the close of registration, on Thursday, April 11. If you believe your team qualifies for the all-amateur division, simply complete the Corinthian Declaration Form and send to USM24CA Admin, Joy Dunigan via email (communications@usmelges24.com). 
Remember: every crew member must possess a valid Group 1 Sailor ID in order to qualify. Corinthian Forms will also be available at registration.

WEIGH-IN
There will not be a weigh-in for the Melges 24 Class in Charleston,
 however all teams are reminded that IM24CA Rules are very much still in effect despite no weigh-in in advance of Race Week. Please know that your team may be protested if overweight, disqualified.

AND DON’T FORGET…
If you are planning to race the National Championship in Fairhope, Alabama next Month - TODAY - APRIL 1, is the early entry deadline.
