PORTER WINS SPERRY CHARLESTON RACE WEEK, FIELD TAKES TOP CORINTHIAN HONORS
Brian Porter's Full Throttle (USA-849) has won a few Melges 24 National Championship titles on Charleston Harbor, but never a Sperry Charleston Race Week trophy... until now. After eight breezy races, Porter with tactician Andy Burdick and crew members RJ Porter and Matt Woodworth conquered the 30+ deep fleet. Bruce Ayres' Monsoon (USA-851) charged hard to finish up in second place, followed by Michael Goldfarb's War Canoe (USA-825) in third.
A full round of big congratulations and kudos go out to Chris & Vicki Field aboard Leda (USA-115) as they are 2018 Melges 24 Corinthian Sperry Charleston Race Week Champions! Sailing with the family, their team also included Avery Field, Jack Field and Jon Wenderoth. Flowery Branch, Georgia's Brent McKenzie sailing EX-KAHN (USA-575) celebrated a banner weekend to place second Corinthian. Reigning U.S. Melges 24 Corinthian National Champion KC Shannon on Shaka (USA-801) rounded out the top three all-amatuer division.
