CA NO. 1: 2016 WORLDS, ON TRACK FOR A SUCCESSFUL REGATTA
As preparations continue for the 2016 Melges 24 World Championship, the Organizing Authority is in fever-pitch, full-on event planning mode.
With competition still taking place in the waters of the Atlantic Ocean off of Virginia Key, and Biscayne Bay selected as a back-up sailing venue should ocean conditions warrant, PRO Anderson Reggio and IM24CA Championship Coordinator John Abel will be fully supported by Ron Rostorfer and his amazing race committee team (volunteers mind you) at Coconut Grove Sailing Club (CGSC). Enough cannot be said about CGSC's drive, passion and determination to provide the very best in sportboat racing. Combined — Reggio, Abel and GCSC — Melges 24 World Championship racers are in the hands of a very capable 2016 Worlds Race Management team. They have all the right people in the right places and continuously discuss how to make this event the best ever by listening to what competitors want.
For certain — Melges 24 racers will reap all the benefits where it counts most — downwind, on a full plane, with their hair on fire!
Competitors are reminded that event dockage is still included providing that you stay at Island Gardens Marina. All major event functions, boat launching and retrieval, trailer storage and support services will be located at Island Gardens Marina. Alternate docking locations are available at the option and expense of the individual competitors.
Also, entry deadlines are fast approaching. Pay online by logging into the Official Yachtscoring Event Site before October 9 to avoid a late fee.
As always, stay close to this site as well as the Facebook Channels for the US Melges 24 and the IM24CA.
